My Story

After spending many years in the restaurant industry which took a huge toll on me and my family, I began my search for a new career in 1992. There were a few requirements that had to be met in order for me to consider a career.

1. No cap on income potential and security for my family’s future.
2. Flexibility in my schedule
3. The recognition and appreciation for a job well done.

HealthMarkets met all my criteria plus more and will be the last career of my life! I have been rewarded well for my accomplishments and feel proud to work with a company that puts its people first and believes in integrity as the most important thing a person should possess. Today I enjoy an income I never really thought possible and, through the company’s stock ownership program, I also do not need to worry about the future. My Story

After leaving the military service, I struggled to find a new career with which I could identify. I juggled everything from multi-level marketing to life insurance sales to door-to-door sales. I was doing whatever it took to make sure my children were fed, had decent clothing, and a roof over their heads.

When I ran across an ad for a sales position with HealthMarkets, I had just experienced the first Christmas in which I could not buy a single present for my children. Once again I was able to pay my bills, have fun, and build for my own retirement.

My Story

My career with HealthMarkets started when I was 23. I realized that I had gone to school to be a teacher, but that didn’t mean I had to be in a classroom to do what I was called to do. I was searching for a career that would pay what I thought I was worth. At this point in my life I knew I wanted to do something in sales and marketing. I had interviewed at several companies that had required “personality exams” to see if I would be fit for sales.

After being told by one agency that I would never make it and another agency offering only a $1500 monthly salary, I took a friend’s advice to talk with HealthMarkets. Little did I know that it would dramatically change my career path and my life. I worked diligently; I wanted so badly to prove those so called “exams” wrong. I knew the secret to success was hard work and never had I been told that I could make $100,000 a year working any less. I didn’t have to know everything, and I still don’t...I just knew I had to put in the work to be successful.

The first time I attended a HealthMarkets conference I had the opportunity to meet a regional sales leader that weekend that had the true heart of a servant and mentor. Over the last 7 ½ years I have learned a lot from his leadership. I realized that this career was about more than just making money, it’s about building relationships. And by helping and serving my clients and as a team leader at the office, we have been able to take our business to a new level.

The relationships, the stock, the advances, the products, the trips and everything else that HealthMarkets offers is what makes my heart beat fast for this company today.
